This hit Nigerian sitcom, now in its ninth season, remains a fan favourite with its loveable characters and their hilarious antics.
The Johnsons depicts the lives of an average Nigerian family as they navigate comical situations and learn important life lessons along the way. The City People award-winning sitcom maintains a large fanbase with no signs of slowing down.
Another key to the sitcom’s ongoing success in Nigeria and beyond, is its celebrated cast. These actors include established Nollywood actors as well as up-and-coming talent. The cast includes legendary Nigerian actor, Chinedu Ikedieze, who has starred in over 150 films in his career and received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2007. Joining him on screen, are accomplished Nollywood stars, Adah Ameh (Domitilla), Kunle Bamtefa (Fuji House of Commotion) and City People Movie Award winner, Charles Inojie.
The show is produced by multi-award-winning Canada-based filmmaker, Rogers Ofime. Ofime is behind the success of many major African television shows, including Tinsel, Hush, Hotel Majestic and more.
Last year, The Johnsons celebrated its 1500th episode, with the head of Africa Magic stating the following: “We are indeed happy to hit the 1500th episode mark of this stellar series. The Johnsons owes its longevity to its amazing cast, intriguing storyline, and creative direction. We remain committed to growing and promoting local content even as we continue to expand the frontier of African film and television production.”
