The new 52-part family drama premiered last week.
Set in idyllic Simon’s Town, Summertide follows the lives of the Field family and those who cross their paths. Martin Field is a marine biologist who opens a penguin rehabilitation centre following the death of his wife. We get to know Martin’s parents, Wilma and Jack Field, as well as his children Tristan and Lucy, who have to cope with the loss of their mother as well as adapting to new surroundings. We’re also introduced to Martin’s brother Gavin, a surfer living a careless life, and Rebecca Solomons, a former Michelin star chef and Martin’s first true love.
"We are incredibly excited about this new series and the creative team involved in bringing it to life," says Waldimar Pelser, Director of Premium Channels at M-Net. "Prepare for an unforgettable journey with an authentic family set against the picturesque backdrop of False Bay.”
Frank Rautenbach, the veteran actor known for his powerful performances in films like The Bang Bang Club and Hansie: A True Story leads an impressive cast that also includes SATFA-nominated actress Monique Rockman (Gaia, Suidooster, Die Spreeus), three-time Fleur du Cap Theatre Award-winner Terry Norton (Egoli), Andre Jacobs (Invictus, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, The Mauritanian), Tyrone Keogh (Still Breathing, The Girl from St Agnes, Blood Diamond), and Amalia Uys (Desert Rose, Die Byl, Spoorloos).
