Still Breathing is the latest new drama to be excited about coming out of South Africa in 2020. The series opens with a shock death and is an emotional rollercoaster dealing with loss, love, family ties and complex relationships. Genuine authenticity is also a key part of the gripping drama as complicated dynamics and secrets abound.
The show boasts an impressive and very successful team, headed by SAFTA award-winner, Johnny Barbuzano, who received widespread praise for his directing on the highly popular and multi-award-winning telenovela, The River. Barbuzano’s wife, Tiffany, wrote the script for the show, is a co-producer and stars in the drama.
The star power continues with Lorcia Kumalo, SAFTA-winning actress best known for her role in the hit series, Lockdown as well as Shannon Esra who made a name for herself in wildly popular South African shows such as The Throne and The Queen. Another big name on the list is award-winning actor and presenter, Sivuyile Ngesi, who recently starred in the internationally acclaimed boxing drama, Knuckle City.
