Tali is back and this time she’s pregnant!

Julia Anastasopoulos (aka Suzelle DIY) returned this year with a follow-up to the wildly popular comedy show, Tali’s Wedding Diary. The show earned an impressive five SAFTAs, which included Best TV Comedy, Best Actress in a TV Comedy, and Best Directing in a TV Comedy.

“When we were making Tali’s Wedding Diary, we joked about winning a SAFTA – it seemed totally crazy given it was our first fully-fledged Showmax Original and all of us were learning as we went. Fast-forward and we’re on stage not just winning one SAFTA award but taking home five. I’m still pinching myself.” – Candice Fangueiro, head of content for MultiChoice Connected Video.

The show picks up where Tali’s Wedding Diary ended. Tali trades her life as an influencer to now being a “momfluencer” after finding out that she’s expecting a baby with her husband Darren. Viewers can expect more ridiculous situations and antics from the mom-to-be in the relentlessly hilarious mockumentary.

“A joy to behold…Tali’s Baby Diary is the best South African TV show of 2021 so far and 100% guaranteed to make you laugh loudly.” – TV critic Thinus Ferreira

“The script, the direction, the actors are all on point. Here’s to Tali’s Baby Diary building on this great start and taking South African television to a next level.” – Litnet

“Suitably cringe-inducing and offering a slightly wilder, weirder shake-up of the bubble of privilege protecting its heroine, this season offers plenty of awkward laughs and moments of uncomfortable recognition to keep fans entertained and amused.” – Business Live

Speaking to Business Tech about his character in the show, Darren, Anton Taylor said: “In season 1, Darren was a bit downtrodden, but in season 2, he’s in a good place. He’s resigned to the fact that he’s married to a crazy woman, but he’s her ride or die – he supports her no matter what. Even in her worst moments, he’s standing there with her. He’s just a good oke who loves her to bits. But in this season, he’s definitely less scared of Tali. In season 2, he grows a bit of a backbone and I think he might surprise people.”

The original cast is joined by some very familiar faces such as SAFTA-winner Deon Lotz (Legacy, Trackers, Griekwastad), Schalk Bezuidenhout (Kanarie, Hotel), Siv Ngesi (Dam, Still Breathing, Knuckle City), award-winning comedian Nik Rabinowitz, comedian Lesego Tlhabi (aka Coconut Kelz), and many more!
