The 60th MipTV was a massive success for our team as we proudly showcased our original content.
Demand for MultiChoice titles across multiple genres, including new telenovela Gqeberha, which is centred around a powerful polygamist, to crime documentary DevilsDorp, continues.
Other titles that caused a stir at MipTV were Shaka iLembe, the story about the legendary African King; as well as Dam, a thriller created and written by Alex Yazbek that is set in an Eastern Cape farming community and story follows Yola, who returns from Chile for her father’s funeral, only to be met by the ghosts of her past.
Growth from North America and Europe continue to be of particular interest, partly fuelled by the need for content for FAST channels and AVOD platforms.
Our authentic African original content fills a gap in scheduling worldwide as the demand for a deeper catalogue across various platforms continues to grow.
The market offered key meetings with buyers from ZDF Studios, Samsung TV Plus, Fremantle and Canal Plus to mention a few. Meeting face-to-face is a valuable and necessary experience we look forward to every year.
A plethora of new connections and productive discussions emphasizes the impact our content makes on the global diaspora audience.
Our African stories continue to travel the world and we are proud to showcase the calibre of African productions coming from MultiChoice.
Following an exciting three days of FAST meetings and productive interactions with the world’s most influential buyers; from MIpTV 2023, that’s a wrap!
