The critically acclaimed sci-fi has become one of the most talked about South African films in recent history.

Set after the spread of an airborne, dementia-like toxin known as The Shred, a family living together in a massive house made of glass do what they can to survive in an entirely new reality. When a stranger shows up and seduces both sisters, the family struggles to maintain order and keep their secrets from coming out.

After having its international premiere at the 2021 Fantasia Film Festival the film was showered with praise and received a 90% critics’ rating from Rotten Tomatoes. After its world premiere, Comicon.com called the film “a folk horror movie that could become a modern classic” while Film Threat’s Lorry Kitka referred to Glasshouse as her “favourite film of the year so far.”

Glasshouse received the audience award for Best Feature Film at Films De Femmes and won Best Feature Film at the 2021 South African Independent Film Festival.

Glasshouse stars British actress Jessica Alexander (The Little Mermaid, A Banquet), Anja Taljaard (Redeeming Love, Die Byl, The Power), Hilton Pelser (who starred in the Bafta-nominated film Moffie), Adrienne Pearce (from the Emmy-winning The Triangle), Naledi Award winner and Fleur du Cap nominee Kitty Harris (Matilda the Musical), and Brent Vermeulen, who was praised as “one of this year's major acting discoveries in Cannes” after The Harvesters (Die Stropers) screened in Un Certain Regard in 2018.

The film is directed by Kelsey Egan (Trackers, I Carry You Always) who received a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture.
