The SAFTA-winning telenovela is back with drama!
After winning a SAFTA for Most Popular TV Soap/Telenovela in 2021, Gomora was quickly renewed for a third season with new characters and fresh twists already in the pipeline.
The hit telenovela follows two families that come from very different economic backgrounds as their worlds collide after a failed hijacking attempt, leaving both families in a state of chaos.
Gomora effectively illustrates social economic issues and highlights the massive gap between haves and have nots within South Africa. This contrast is also emphasised with clever and creative filming styles throughout the series. The show also explores how people deal with adversity differently, with some feeling as though they have no other option but to turn to a life of crime.
In 2020, Gomora was announced as the show to replace Isithembiso on one of Africa’s biggest channels, Mzansi Magic. The latter had a massive following and a lot was expected from the brand-new telenovela that took its place. However, within its first month on air Gomora recorded very high viewership ratings and in the same month became the most watched show on the channel.
The cast includes SAFTA-winner Katlego Danke (Isidingo, Generations), Thembi Seete (singer and actress also a judge on Idols SA), Connie Chiume (Black Panther, Black is King), Ama Qamata (Blood & Water), Sana Mchunu (The River, Our Stories) and many more.
