DiepCity tells the story of four women attempting to find their feet after being forced into a life of crime since they were teenagers.
This fresh and thrilling telenovela was brought to life by South Africa Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) winning director and producer, Mandla N, best known for his work on the popular drama Lockdown. DiepCity is produced by Black Brain Productions, the company behind hit shows like Lockdown, eHostela and more.
The cast offers some new and familiar faces, of which the latter includes Nozuko Ncayiyane, star of multiple popular shows including Abomama, Scandal! and Skeem Saam. She is joined on-screen by Kgaogelo Monama (Lockdown), Zikhona Bali (Is’Thunzi, Isikizi, Binnelanders), Thandeka King (SAFTA-winning star of Lockdown) and SAFTA-winning actor of the acclaimed film, Faith Like Potatoes, Hamilton Dlamini.

According to cast member, Luyanda Shezi, DiepCity is a crime drama with a “human touch and human soul” and features “unlikely, but relatable characters”. Nompumelelo Vilakazi, who portrays Sinenhlanhla on the show, adds that DiepCity “tells the stories happening in South Africa” and that viewers can expect to be entertained and informed at the same time.
