City on Fire, written and directed by acclaimed police officer turned writer Wycliff Mwamba, depicts the lives of a wide variety of characters. From the rich and scandalous to the young and mischievous, they must all navigate complex issues while surviving the myriad threats looming in a broken city. This gritty telenovela breaks several boundaries of the genre with the spotlight on the criminal underground and vicious fights for supremacy in a city where chaos reigns.
In the second season, paranoia sweeps through the city when the bodies of dead taxi drivers are found on the outskirts of Ndola. With the authorities on high alert, illegal activities are done with more caution and the vulnerable are constantly looking over their shoulders as a masked serial killer causes a cloud of suspicion to hang over a city where evil already rules.
Thrilling rivalries take centre stage with our lead, Muzo, naturally at the heart of these fierce battles. The first of these feuds is with his very own brother, as both siblings want to protect their father’s legacy, but disagree over how it should be carried forward.
Meanwhile, the self-proclaimed Queen Dora takes issue with the young mastermind interfering with her business dealings and trying to knock her off her throne. Muzo also finds himself in the middle of a love triangle that involves an ex-girlfriend he falls for again and a close friend, who happens to be Queen Dora’s son.
The cast includes many Zambian actors who receive their first major opportunity on television with the series. This includes Kelvin Mwansa (Helping Chalo, Saving Chalo), Leo D Simukoko (Black Dollar, Mushala), Multichoice Talent Factory graduate Bridget Kashiba, and many more.
This exhilarating telenovela offers an authentic African crime story filled with action, mystery, infidelity, and jaw-dropping drama, making it a thrill-a-minute spectacle worthy of any primetime slot.
