When the matriarch and owner of the family business announces that she is unable to run the company anymore, a feud ensues between family members to assume the mantle.
The family drama kicks off when Vuyo, the matriarch of the family, announces that due to her rapidly deteriorating health she is ready to hand over the funeral parlour to her two sons, Mbulelo and Zola. However, a spanner is thrown in the works when Vuyo’s estranged sister, Funeka, returns home after fifteen years to claim her inheritance. Add secrets and scandals to the ongoing battle for control of the business and the result is a web of exciting drama!
The impressive cast for the brand-new drama includes Sibulele Gcilitshana (Saints and Sinners, Grassroots, Spoorloos, Gomora) who plays the current owner of the funeral parlour. Star of the hit telenovela The Queen, Zandile Msutwana, depicts Vuyo’s estranged sister, Funeka, while Bongile Mantsai (Knuckle City, Blood Psalms) and Mbasa Msongelo (iKhaya, Is'thunzi, Saints and Sinners) play the roles of Vuyo’s sons. Luzuko Nkqetho, who has starred in multiple hit South African shows such as Jacob’s Cross, Grassroots, Mzali Wami, Lingashoni, and much more completes the star-studded ensemble.
Speaking to News24, Zandile Msutwana described her character as “very stylish, manipulative, and young at heart – even though she’s older”
“Vuyiswa and Funeka are complete opposites. While Vuyiswa is a good cop who isn’t corrupt in any way, Funeka is corrupt. She likes shortcuts and money, is devious and manipulative, and uses her sexiness to get through life. She’s also a lot more stylish than Vuyiswa I must say.”
